Junior kindy room
Twenty two places for three to four year olds, with the courtyard water channel, sand and messy play at the centre of the day.
Junior kindy is the year before the funded kindergarten year. Twenty two children, one educator to eleven as required in Queensland, and in practice a third educator across the middle of the day. This is the room in the first film pouring jugs into the water channel and turning the wheel: measuring, sharing, waiting a turn and working out why the water stops when the gutter is flat. Group times are short, projects run for weeks, and the room does its own risk assessment out loud before anything new goes in the yard.

Full day, 6:30am to 6:30pm
Daily fee before Child Care Subsidy. The lower figure is the permanent five day rate, three and four day bookings sit in the middle, and single or casual days sit at the top. Fees are set in January and hold for the calendar year.

What is the difference between junior kindy and the kindergarten program?
Junior kindy is for three to four year olds and follows the Early Years Learning Framework. The kindergarten program is for the year before Prep, is taught by a registered teacher and follows the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guideline. Different room, different age, different framework.
Do the children get wet at water play?
Often. Send a spare set of clothes and a second hat in the bag. The channel runs on filtered mains water, it is emptied and cleaned daily, and it is only open with an educator standing at it.
How many educators are outside at once?
At least two whenever the yard is open, and three when both the water channel and the sandpit are in use. Ratio is a minimum, not a target.
