Under two years is one educator to four children. Two to three years is one to five. Three years to school age is one to eleven, which is the Queensland requirement. Those are minimums set by the National Quality Framework. We roster one educator above them in every room from about half past nine to half past three, and the day's roster is on the door.

Every educator, student and regular volunteer holds a current Queensland working with children check, the blue card. Nobody starts a shift before we have sighted and verified it, and we keep a register. Visitors and tradespeople sign in and are never alone with children.

Follow the exclusion periods in the Queensland health guidance we hand you at enrolment. In short: twenty four hours clear of vomiting or diarrhoea, no fever without medication, and no attendance with conjunctivitis, hand foot and mouth, or chickenpox until cleared. If your child becomes unwell here we ring you, and we expect collection within the hour.

Queensland law lets a service refuse enrolment on immunisation grounds, and Child Care Subsidy has its own requirements. We need an immunisation history statement from the Australian Immunisation Register at enrolment. Come and talk to Renae if your child has a medical exemption or is on a catch up schedule.

Marnie checks the UV index before the yard opens. Hats go on at the door, sunscreen goes on inside, every outdoor learning area is under a shade sail, and outdoor time shifts earlier or moves to shade when the index is high. Water is available all day, indoors and out.

The covered verandah carries the same program, including water and gross motor play. We have a written wet weather plan and it does not involve a screen.

Yes. It runs under the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guideline, is taught by a teacher registered with the Queensland College of Teachers, and runs fifteen hours a week over forty weeks inside the long day. Queensland kindergarten funding is applied to eligible children in their kindergarten year.
